New Apartment
I got the keys to my new apartment this weekend. Went in and had a look. It’s compact, but should be all the room I need.  I’ll gradually move in over the next two weeks.

I am trying to file my tax return. I got most of the way through when the IRD‘s server (interact1.ird.govt.nz) stopped responding. It seems a pretty fatal crash because I can’t even start again from the beginning. From the name I guess they are running some ASP CMS called Interact Intranet. From their site “Interact runs on standard Microsoft technology, integrating seamlessly with your existing infrastructure.” That’ll be the problem! Someone tell the IRD to install some decent Linux webservers so I can do my tax return. Netcraft shows the main webserver www.ird.govt.nz is running Linux/Apache and that works fine.
Sidenote: I worked out why my tax to pay is more than expected: my bank interest is only having resident witholding tax deducted at 19.5% instead of 39%.
Update: Traffic is being directed to interact2.ird.govt.nz now. Time to try again.
Update2: No, interact2.ird.govt.nz isn’t responding either now. Will have to try again tomorrow.
Update3: Finally done. interact2 managed to stay alive long enough for me to file my tax return this morning.

You know you’re a vet clinic regular when they start giving your pet gifts. This blanket/mat thing was given to Oliver when I paid for his last visit on Wednesday.

Was very annoying, I left work early and took Oliver in for his appointment on Tuesday only to be told he needed to go in the whole day. Then I had to take him in early on Wednesday and pick him up again too.
His glucose levels are still high, so he’s been bumped up to 6 units (mls?) of insulin. They say it is quite normal to take a while to find the right dosage level and that it would be really bad if we went over and he went into hypoglycemic shock. I suggested to my sister that they’re deliberately keeping him sick for the business, not seriously though.
And no Oliver hasn’t slept on his new mat, he was on either the floor or my bed last night.
